In the Dome: Biosphere 2

ome experience the remarkable Biosphere 2, which Time Life Books named one of the “50 Must-See Wonders of the World.” Our classic Under-the-Glass Tour, takes you along a once-in-a-lifetime route of the 3+ acre research facility, where you will smell our Ocean and feel a tropical Rainforest up close. The Biosphere 2 facility serves as a laboratory for controlled scientific studies, an arena for scientific discovery and discussion, and a far-reaching provider of public education. Its mission is to serve as a center for research, outreach, teaching and life-long learning about Earth, its living systems, and its place in the universe; to catalyze interdisciplinary thinking and understanding about Earth and its future; to be an adaptive tool for Earth education and outreach to industry, government, and the public; and to distill issues related to Earth systems planning and management for use by policymakers, students and the public. Come tour one of the world’s most unique facilities dedicated to the research and understanding of global scientific issues. Scenic Sabino Canyon

9:00am – 12:00pm
Departs Hilton El Conquistador at 9:00am and returns at 12:00pm
Transportation:  Provided via motorcoach
Fee: $45 per person (tour only—lunch not included)
Minimum: 10 participants

Take a tram ride and rise through several microclimates on your 3.8-mile journey from the desert floor to the alpine forest. With soaring mountains, deep canyons and the unique plants and animals of the Sonoran Desert found here, more than a million visitors a year visit the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area. The wonders of the desert foothills and rocky gorges of the Santa Catalina Mountains are marvelous and accessible.
